hours and counting...

so it's monday night and i'm leaving on wednesday... about time to figure out how this blogger thing works i guess! lots of last minute things to do, and as usual i seem to have left them until the last minute. it's really crazy that i'm leaving so soon, i know that i am super close to having the culture shock of my life and all of my preconcieved ideas about south america blown totally out of the water. not to mention my preconcieved notions of myself, which i'm sure will also be challenged. but so exciting because i've been wanting this for soooo long. anyways, enough blabbing. next time i write i'm sure i'll have something exciting to say!

Hi Slick: Just to let you know I'd like to be going with you! But I do know you will have a constant travelling companion:

"If I rise on the wings of the dawn,
if I settle on the far side of the sea,
even there your hand will guide me,
your right hand will hold me fast."
Psalm 139:9,10

God speed you on your journeys!

Hey Kate,
I wanted to call you last night to say a final (well, not that final) goodbye, but remembered much too late last night. Anyhow, I'll be reading up on your bloggy -

I am so excited for you! You're going to learn so much! I know it! ;). I'm reading a book Joash gave me called "Let your life speak". It's about vocation, cuz as you know, i always have no clue as to what I to do as a career.

One thing I've learned so far is, God made you a certain way, so it doesn't make sense to follow a path that isn't really yours (you know this from having a lab job you hated). This happens because it takes us a long, long time to know and become who we really are. For example, if you were left without any physical abilities and could "do" nothing, how would you define yourself? A crazy thought, but it demands us an essential question about who we are apart from what we do. So...all I'm saying after much blabbing is, while you're in South America, look for evidence of your real life trying to speak.

Anyway, some food for thought. ;).
Blessings,

Matthea

Ha... I just saw Motorcycle Diaries... so I'm trying to picture you down in South America and there's only one thing coming to mind... you on a motorcycle fiding for the rights of the powerless...

go kate! ... enjoy your time, enjoy the people you meet, and the life in them, and enjoy the FOOD you eat and eat some extra for me! I wish I could be down there with you!
